Board and Batten

Solid Grade A Wood Board and Batten Shutters

board-and-batten.jpg

Think of battening down the hatches and you will understand Board and Batten shutters. Battened down (closed) these shutters will stand up to the fiercest storms (our solid Grade A wood boards are heavy [+/- 1"] for obvious reasons).

Opened, they will complement and enhance the concept of your traditional home. You can conceive your Board and Batten design to suit your taste. And we'll handcraft them for your own custom one-of-a-kind fit and finish. So scroll down to find the right one for you. Then see some of the available options you can add to your design.

Nantucket

NANTUCKET

This design was named for the historic fishing and whaling village in Massachusetts, where the famous Nantucket Sleigh Ride phrase originated. The vertical planks on these custom wood shutters are snugged together to form a formidable wall against the weather when closed, while adding grace and authenticity to your home, opened. Of course, you can size these virtually any way you like. Then see some of the available options you can add to your design.

Options: Copper capping, Additional batten, “Z” batten, Solid arch top, Chamfered edges, Cutouts

Townsend

TOWNSEND

Richard Townsend erected one of the early sawmills in the Philadelphia area and also coordinated construction on some of the historic homes that still survive. Obviously, the vertical boards on these custom wood shutters have small (1/4") spaces between them to allow a little fresh air even while confronting the elements. And we will construct your Townsends to fit into any window opening you specify.
